Later this month I am due to pay the balance for our world cruise on the Queen Mary 2. Our annual travel insurance is with Lloyds. I have negotiated an extension to cover the voyage but the policy provides cancellation cover of just £5,000 per person. If we have to cancel the cruise for health reasons, we would lose £54,000.

My wife and I are both in our seventies. I have controlled high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes; my wife has no pre-existing conditions. We have tried one of Cunard's recommended insurers, Stride, but it says it cannot offer this sort of extension of cover.

Is there any insurance available to cover this sum?
