History

Founded in 1922, USAA insurance is meeting the members of the army.It started with 25 military officers who have come together to provide one another vehicle when they were denied insurance by traditional companies. The United Services Automobile Association is a private company which is actually owned by members.

Geico was almost as long as USAA. The company was founded in 1936 and continues to thrive today. It was launched by the couple and Goodwin was founded on the principles of ingenuity, innovation, honesty, resilience and perseverance. Geico is a publicly traded company.

Geico is strictly an insurance company, although they provide just about everything in your home. Almost anything that rolls on wheels or a value for it is eligible for coverage. This includes your home, RVs, commercial autos, automotive collectibles, boats, your life, and even your collection of identification.

USAA has grown over the years and now is more than just an insurance company. However, their insurance offerings are more limited than GEICO. Boats, motor homes and classic cars are not provided directly by USAA.The company has partnered with Progressive, however, so that members can still take advantage of discounts on these products.

However, the insurance company will offer property, life insurance and will provide riders for valuables such as jewelry and electronics.
